On November 4, 2014, the voters of California passed Proposition 47. Following an appropriate petition, this law reclassifies certain low-level, nonviolent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors. If you were convicted of a felony for any of the following offenses, you may qualify for a reclassification:

  • PC 459 – Shoplifting (commercial burglary of $950 or less of a store during business hours)
  • PC 470-476 – Forgery of $950 or less
  • PC 476(a) – Fraud/Bad Checks of $950 or less
  • PC 487 – Grand Theft of $950 or less
  • PC 484, 484/666 – Petty Theft/Shoplifting of $950 or less
  • PC 496 – Receiving Stolen Property of $950 or less
  • HS 11377 – Possession of Methamphetamine
  • HS 11350 – Possession of Controlled Substance
  • HS 11357(a) – Possession of Concentrated Cannabis
